Amina’s Song

Summary
It’s the last few days of her vacation in Pakistan, and Amina has loved every minute of it. The food, the shops, the time she’s spent with her family—all of it holds a special place in Amina’s heart. Now that the school year is starting again, she’s sad to leave, but also excited to share the wonders of Pakistan with her friends back in Greendale.
After she’s home, though, her friends don’t seem overly interested in her trip. And when she decides to do a presentation on Pakistani hero Malala Yousafzai, her classmates focus on the worst parts of the story. How can Amina share the beauty of Pakistan when no one wants to listen?
Review
This seems like a natural extention of Amina’s story. She found her confidence in Amina’s Voice she’s ready to use it in this book, she’s also seeing herself as part of the larger world in this book. Not that she didn’t before but she definitely wasn’t ready to challenge people who were throwing out sterotypes. She’s come far from the girl who wouldn’t speak up in music in Amina’s Voice. I really love her presentation at the end, I also love the relationship between Amina and her cousin. Her cousin asks hard questions and pushes Amina in ways that I don’t think she would have thought of otherwise.
Loved the book! Totally a 5/5.
